Abuelito's Taco Seasoning

Karolina Longoria
Put down that store-bought taco seasoning and make your own. This simple recipe from my grandfather is truly one of the best. It comes together quickly and will last for six months.

  • Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix until thoroughly combined.
  • Brown 2lbs of protein (ground beef, ground chicken, ground turkey, tofu crumbles, or faux meat crumbles).
  • Add seasoning and mix into protein of choice. Let spices toast for about 1 minute. Turn down heat to low.
  • Pour ½ cup to 1 cup of cold water over the spiced protein and mix well. The sauce will begin to thicken. The more water you add the more saucy the mixture will become.
